Exploring the Benefits of Dentures
Promote Your Oral Health
Even one missing tooth puts you at risk for oral health issues such as jawbone deterioration and dental misalignment. Dentures work to minimize your chances of developing problems that can take a toll on your oral health and overall well-being.
Improve Daily Function
If you have been missing teeth for some time, you may have avoided eating your favorite foods or put up with difficulty speaking. Thanks to dentures, however, you’ll be able to chew, bite, and speak with ease.
Boost Confidence
If missing teeth are leaving you less than satisfied with your smile, dentures can provide a natural-looking solution. Dentures can also provide support to your facial structures to address a sinking or sagging appearance.
A Look at Your Denture Options at Our Rockford-Area Practice
Traditional Full Dentures
If you are missing all of your teeth along a dental arch or your few remaining teeth are unhealthy, we can extract the unhealthy teeth and provide you with a full denture to restore your smile and oral function.
Partial Dentures
If you have some remaining healthy teeth along a dental arch, our dentists can leave them in place and create a partial denture that fills in the gaps. Partial dentures can address several areas of tooth loss along a dental arch.
Implant-Supported Dentures
While traditional dentures sit on top of the gums and can be removed for cleaning, implant-supported dentures are secured to the jawbone with dental implants. These metal posts act as artificial tooth roots.
All-on-4 Dental Implants
The All-on-4® implant method secures a full denture using just four implants placed at strategic angles. All-on-4 can allow many patients with jawbone atrophy to receive an implant-supported denture without bone grafting.
Why So Many Pick Implant-Supported Dentures
Dental implants provide the maximum level of stability and support for dentures. Surgically embedded into the jaw, implants avoid the slippage that can sometimes occur with traditional dentures.
Implants also help keep your jaw healthy. When you are missing natural teeth, jawbone stimulation ceases. This can result in jawbone atrophy that causes distorted facial features, gum recession, pain, tooth shifting, and more. The dental implants that support dentures can put a stop to this dangerous atrophy.
While more costly than traditional dentures, the implant-supported solution is often chosen by our Rockford, IL, patients because implants result in an extraordinary fit with optimal dental function. The implants themselves last a lifetime with proper care, making them a nearly unbeatable investment.

Maintaining Your Dentures Aftercare Tips
Practice Good Oral Hygiene
Just as you would natural teeth, brush your denture twice daily with a soft-bristle brush. A traditional denture should be removed every night and soaked in water or denture cleanser to give your gums a break.
Clean Your Dentures Regularly
In addition to brushing, we recommend you rinse your dentures after meals to remove any food particles that may have become trapped.
Properly Store Your Dentures
Store your traditional dentures in water or a cleaning solution when you’re not wearing them.
Visit Your Dentist Periodically
Getting acclimated to your new prosthetic may take a few weeks or longer. Fortunately, we can make adjustments as needed.
